“Diana the Hunter”, also known as “Diana Nemorensis” and “Artemis”. She was worshipped by many as the goddess of hunt, animals, woodland and the moon. In Capua and in Aricia, localities near Rome, there are still shrines dedicated to her. Her shrine in Aricia was on the shores of them lake Nemi. For that reason, she was named Diana Nemorensis- Diana of the Woods. This sculpture depicts the beloved goddess with her iconic crossbow, as she draws back on the string. She holds her perfect hunter`s form. Her legs are firmly locked and her body forms a line as she locks her eyes on her target. Throughout time Diana has become a popular feminist figure because of her beauty, strength, and chasity. 100% handmade bronze, this brown and gold patina sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a black marble base and is signed by artist Aldo Vitaleh.
