The story of the Sphinx is closely tied to its love for riddles. It posed a famous riddle to all who passed, with dire consequences for those who couldn't answer correctly. The riddle, "What has one voice and walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?" was its trademark.
