This Sculpture depicts a very rare scene: Mercury (Hermes) conveying Pandora to Epimetheus, a scene after the relief by John Flaxman (1755-1826). As we all know, Pandora took a jar (box) that contains all evils of the world and she opened it and all the evils flew out, leaving only Hope inside once she had closed it again. The sculpture is intricately carved in great details, fully represent John Flaxman's original work. The carving lines are smooth and clean. Mercury and Pandora's face, hair, hands and toes are all carved very clear. A wonderful Magnificent of art sitting on top of a black marble base and is signed by artist Mario Nick.
