Diana the Hunter”, also known as “Diana Nemorensis” and “Artemis”. She was worshipped by many as the goddess of hunt, animals, woodland and the moon. In Capua and in Aricia, localities near Rome, there are still shrines dedicated to her. Her shrine in Aricia was on the shores of them lake Nemi. For that reason, she was named Diana Nemorensis- Diana of the Woods. This sculpture depicts the beloved goddess with her mighty spear in hand and a arm slung around the neck of a loyal deer. A sword curves around her hip and her flirty dress blows in the wind. Her womanly body is curvy and voluptuous. Her wavy hair is wild and blows off her face. Throughout time Diana has become a popular feminist figure because of her beauty, strength, and chastity. 100% handmade bronze, this brown patina sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a black marble base. It is signed by the artist Rancoulet.
