She holds her hand up ward with one hand behind her head she dances in the wind and gets taken to a whole new world. Her hair is long and curly and fly’s back from her face as she dances. Her dress is exquisite with detail and her skirt lifts up from the winds and flows between her legs. The bottom of the dress is ruffled giving her a cute feel. She wears a gorgeous necklace and arm bracelet. This sculpture was cast using the “Lost Wax Method” and has a two tone brown patina and is mounted on a marble base. This sculpture is signed by C.JR Colinet. Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet (1852-1908)Belgian sculptor Colinet was well known in her day and remembered for her series Dancers of the World, which included Ankara Dancer. Colinet worked in ivory, bronze and chryselephantine, as did most other sculptors of the time. Colinet regularly incorporated theatrical themes into her sculptors, especially with her Dancers. Colinet s sculptures were not stoic and frozen, but were full-figured and energized with strong impressions while being dynamically posed. Colinet s sculptures were exhibited at the Parisian Salons from 1913 through 1940.
